Table-tennis event reaches its climax
The champion of the US$85,000 table-tennis Women's World Cup will be decided today at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai. Sixteen of the world's best women's players, including champions from four continents, are competing in the three-day tournament that ends today.
The champion will walk away with US$28,000. The mainland's world number one Zhang Yining was the favourite to win before last night's matches. For the latest results, see tomorrow's South China Morning Post.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Table Tennis Association has organised a workshop for those aged 17 and below at 2pm tomorrow at Wai Tsuen Sports Centre, Tsuen Wan.
Apart from Zhang, star players like Wang Nan and Niu Jianfeng, also from the mainland, have been invited to perform demonstrations during the workshop.
