An elderly man died and a woman was in critical condition as the coldest day of the winter so far took its toll yesterday. The 71-year-old man, who had been suffering renal disease, was admitted to Prince of Wales Hospital suffering from a low body temperature. He was initially in a fair condition but died later. A woman, 82, and also with renal disease, was taken to Tseung Kwan O Hospital where she remained in critical condition. The Hong Kong Observatory said it recorded a minimum yesterday of 10.3 degrees Celsius. It expects temperatures to rise gradually in the next few days.
