Architects call for west kowloon monitor

The Hong Kong Institute of Architects yesterday urged the government to set up a temporary body to oversee the development of the West Kowloon cultural district. Speaking at a forum on the $24 billion project, the institute said it was essential to establish a West Kowloon development board to monitor the cultural district's construction.

study finds young have trouble communicating

More than half of young people aged 15 to 25 have problems with their families and friends, a youth group study has found. Of those surveyed, 47.3 per cent said that they could not communicate with their families and 16 per cent did not have good relationships with their families or friends. The poll by Breakthrough interviewed 849 young people from February to May.

Carpetbaggers make off with $2m haul

Fifty carpets worth about $2 million were stolen from a shop on Square Street, Sheung Wan.The Pakistani shop owner called the police after being alerted by his son that while he was out, eight former business acquaintances, all Pakistani men aged from their 20s to their 50s, came to the shop and took the carpets to settle what they said were the shop owner's debts.
