The success of Operation Santa Claus depends on the support and goodwill of the community - and that is exactly what the Swire Group has been providing for the past eight years. 'Swire is pleased to have been associated with Operation Santa Claus over the past eight years as part of our community involvement, and particularly proud of those staff volunteers who take an active role in giving something back to the community,' said Swire Group corporate affairs director Andrew Herdman. Last week, Swire thrilled children at Yew Chung Primary School in Kowloon Tong by sending Santa to pick up a cheque from pupils who had raised money for the appeal. Santa then greeted the children of Operation Santa Claus' beneficiaries at the World Carnival and enjoyed rides with them. In the evening, Santa added some more cheer to the operation's charity auction presentation ceremony at The Landmark in Central. In addition, many staff members from various Swire Group companies, including Swire Properties, Swire Coca-Cola Hong Kong and Cathay Pacific, have volunteered for community work, such as visiting the elderly living alone and single-parent families. They also organised outings and other activities for the disadvantaged, including handicapped and mentally handicapped children.
