Playing computer games and talking to friends on the internet may be daily routines for many teenagers, but it is a prayer answered for 16-year-old Lau Wing-cheung. 'Cheung Tsai' (Little Cheung), as he is known to his friends, has been confined to a hospital bed after a diving accident five months ago left him a quadriplegic. Yi Chung-yiu, his former doctor, nominated him for this year's Operation Santa Claus appeal. Responding to the appeal, pupils from Shung Tak Catholic School in Yuen Long raised $34,000, half of which has been used to buy a computer and the rest has gone to his family. Tej Bahadur Rai donated $38,000 to buy Cheung Tsai an electric hoist and offered to pay for a 12-month internet access service. 'When I saw him, I knew I made a good decision. He said 'thank you very much' to me. I donated the money because I wanted to make his life easier,' Mr Rai said.
