Art transcends all boundaries and has the power to brighten up our lives with its wonders. Experience this magical feeling by visiting a new exhibition in Causeway Bay. Organised by Hong Chi Association, a charity for the mentally handicapped, Arts Unlimited showcases handicrafts by artists from the Hong Chi Pinehill Pottery and paintings by students from the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island West Hong Chi Morninghope School. The exhibition is at the Lee Gardens ground floor lobby and it is open to the public from 11am to 7pm until the end of this month.

SPIN DEVILS

Have you ever seen a 'dust devil' before? It is a miniature whirlwind strong enough to whip dust and rubbish into the air. Starting on January 2, 2004, you will be able to create your own little storm at a new Hong Kong Science Museum exhibition. At Planetary landscapes: Sculpting the Solar System, you can learn more about the solar system, which is like a huge vortex that has been spinning around the sun for more than five billion years in frictionless space. One of the exhibits enables visitors to create a dust devil by simply spinning a propeller to produce a vortex in the centre of the tank. It illustrates a fundamental law of nature that, in turn, explains its formation. Dust devils and tornadoes are often spotted spinning in the atmosphere, or near the surface, of our planet Earth. Here, the friction will eventually rob a vortex of its energy before it dissipates. For more information, visit http://hk. science.museum
