Election of the Chief Executive

Now - September 2004

Public consultation involves the release of a proper consultative document, a green paper, by the government listing all possible options for the public to articulate their views through well-defined channels. The government should also assume responsibility to encourage and facilitate public participation in the discussions

October 2004 - March 2005

Release of a white paper on the method of election of the chief executive, and taking steps to implement changes of the method, if necessary, in accordance with the provisions of Annex I of the Basic Law

April 2005 - March 2006
