Let's get ready to party to welcome in 2004
New Year's Eve is a time for celebration ...whether you're feeling festive, frisky or frumpy - 2004 is at your doorstep.
If you're, as yet, unsure about where to head, here are some of the parties on the agenda for the well-to-do, young, hip and popular (not all of the above and certainly not in that order).
Rumour has it that a son of tycoon Spencer Fung (of Li & Fung) is throwing a big bash simply called, 'Da Party' at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre tonight. Of course, not one invite was found - not even in nearby rubbish bins. Reason? Invites are distributed strictly by word of mouth.
The 'At the Grand' party at the Grand Hyatt will see a mix of unnamed local celebs and expats get swept up in nostalgia with the sound of a big band and the scent of red roses. There are still some seats available, call 2584-7711, HK$3,080 per person.
Hong Kong's own New Year baby, Pino Piano of Gaia is throwing his own 'Absolutely Fabulous' party. It's his birthday - but who's counting - so the night is bound to be wild and delightful, with champers and caviar on the agenda. Six courses and free flowing champagne for $1,380. Gatecrashers are welcome, with free entry after midnight.
Kee Club is booked for its 'Casino Royal' night. People can play for prizes and pig out on the luxury buffet which will be stuffed full of oysters, caviar, and lobsters. The club will be opened up for all members and other gatecrashers after 11.30pm.
