Wine lovers should visit the website of Master of Wine Jancis Robinson (below). The funny, informative site is unusual because it is independent, with no pop-ups or advertisements. Robinson writes about what she likes - and doesn't like - without worrying about anybody getting mad and cancelling their advertisements. Robinson was the first journalist to pass the exceedingly difficult Master of Wine examination, and her background shows in her articles. Many of the pieces that appear in the Wine Now section of the website were published in the Financial Times, to which Robinson is a regular con- tributor. Access to most of the site is free and extends to articles by Robinson's husband, food writer Nicholas Lander. Access to the Purple Pages, where the subscriber can read Robinson's tasting notes on fine wines, consult the excellent Oxford Companion To Wine, ask Robinson questions, and read 'scurrilous stuff' she 'might not dare put in the open-access section' costs #49 (HK$672) a year. The site address is www.jancisrobinson.com .
