More than 1,800 sellers from 35 countries and regions are showing their wares

Attendance at the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, which opens today for a four-day run at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, is up by more than 5 per cent. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the fair is the largest of its kind in Asia and the third largest toy exhibition in the world.

'I think that the economic climate is getting better and the second half of last year reflects that,' says Anne Chick, senior exhibitions manager at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. 'Anyone wanting to tap into the Asian or China markets would definitely want to attend this fair.'

More than 1,800 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions will showcase their wares. Exhibitors from Brazil, Canada, and Poland will take part for the first time. There will be group pavilions from Germany, India, Italy, Korea, China, Pakistan, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand, and more than 40 trade missions from around the world.

New this year will be a Bicycles Zone with about eight exhibitors. Demonstrations will be held in the afternoon during the first three days in Atrium Link 2.

'Based on interviews with buyers, we found that some were looking for bicycles so we decided to launch a zone to meet this demand,' Ms Chick says.
