It looks as if the city's tycoons are back in a buying mood, at least when it comes to motors. According to readers of the Post's Foot Down column, at least one coveted Maybach 62 - which is more than six metres long and carries a $6.8 million price tag - has been purchased. A trusty car spotter informs us that it carries the licence plate KS 1. I wonder who this could be? And an equally coveted Rolls-Royce Phantom has come into the hands (or the chauffeur's hands) of at least two mysterious owners, one in Macau, the other in Hong Kong. So it seems the score is Maybach 1, Phantom 2.
But both marques face a new competitor next week, with the introduction of the new Arnage Limousine to the market. No ordinary Arnage is this, however - it is a stretch version put together by Bentley Mulliner, the car company's bespoke team. If price is anything to go by, this one will surely put the competition in its place - it costs a staggering $12.8 million (this would buy you 166 Daihatsu Ginos, or 1.8 billion kilometres' worth of cab fares). With the recent surge in the Hang Seng, there's probably no shortage of prospective buyers. But which tycoon will open the chequebook first?
