Three cases have been reported in as many days; experts advise travel caution
A 24-year-old man who visited Thailand shortly before Christmas has contracted dengue fever, the third confirmed case by health authorities in as many days.
The man complained of fever, headache, muscle pain and a skin rash two days after returning to Hong Kong on December 23.
A Department of Health spokeswoman said he was being treated at home and his condition was stable. 'He went to see a private doctor but he did not need hospitalisation,' she said.
On Monday and Tuesday, two cases of the mosquito-borne disease were announced by health authorities.
The first case involved a 17-year-old boy who arrived on December 28 from the Philippines and was admitted to Ruttonjee Hospital two days later for dengue symptoms. He was discharged on Monday.
In the second case, a man, 47, who returned to Hong Kong on December 28 after spending a month in Sri Lanka complained of fever and aches.
