GEM-listed firm is accused of copying training course materials on the internet
A unit operating under the Hong Kong Polytechnic University is suing Growth Enterprise Market-listed Thiz Technology for copyright infringement.
Sun Wah-Pearl Linux (SWP), set up by the university to offer Linux and open-source programme training, said the Thiz-controlled Institute of Thiz Technology had copied materials from more than 30 SWP training courses.
'I am shocked to learn that my works - including course outlines, content, wording and even grammatical mistakes - are shown in their course materials,' said SWP's Albert Chung, who designed the courses.
'We are only a [small business]. After comparing the two courses, most people would probably choose the listed company. It has resulted in an unfair competition.'
SWP decided to bring the case to court after consulting legal experts.
