ART OF HAIR
Local visual artist Leung Mee-ping has created a number of children's shoes for her installation work Memorize the Future. The shoes are made of human hair from more than 10,000 people.
Leung spent almost three years collecting hair from nearly 100 countries through the internet and with the help of friends. Some were even collected from salons and refuse collection points.
After cleaning, she turned the hair into 10,000 children's shoes ranging from two to four inches long.
Through the shoes which are all pointing towards the same direction, Leung hopes to convey the message that a bright future can only be achieved through social and racial harmony. Leung's work is on display at G/F, Western Market, Sheung Wan, until February 29.
