10. Writing a dull or lengthy CV. It's a sales document, selling you - this is the time to blow your own trumpet!

9. Sending gimmicky CVs. That pink Hello Kitty paper or the video CV that no one has time to watch won't do you any favours.

8. Addressing your cover letter to the wrong person or even the wrong company.

7. Not preparing fully for the interview. Find out all you can about the company and how your set of skills can fit in.
