Thomas Crampton, The International Herald Tribune's Asia correspondent, is bidding farewell to Hong Kong. During eight years in the region he's uncovered several scoops, including the revelation about Richard Li not really having a Stanford degree, though they've since made up and dined out on several occasions.
Last night, Crampton was at the Foreign Correspondents' Club, saying farewell to more than 100 friends and colleagues (the invite featuring mug shots of the multifaceted hack).
'Besides having to turn off your mobile phones, there will be no exchanging of name cards tonight,' joked Crampton, adding a new regulation to the FCC.
He is off to Manhattan to work for The New York Times' metro and business sections for six months before returning to The International Herald Tribune in Paris.
'Of course I am sad to leave behind all my friends, but I am also excited about what lies ahead,' he said.
