Prompt payoff: When it comes to booking flights, the early bird catches a bargain. British Airways has just introduced its 'Year Round Value Fares' scheme: the earlier you book, the cheaper your tickets will be, even during peak periods. For instance, round-trip economy flights between Hong Kong and London this year are being offered for as low as $4,900 from November 1 to 30, and $5,900 from December 17 to 26. For more details, call your travel agent or British Airways on 2822 9000.
Thailand tops poll: A survey conducted by Lonely Planet has found that the Land of Smiles is the favourite travel destination, followed by Italy, then Australia, India and New Zealand. More than 7,500 travellers in 134 countries responded to the online poll. Despite Sars and the threat of terrorism, Asia was voted the favourite region, closely followed by Europe, then South/Central America. Asked what the next big thing in travel might be, respondents predicted train travel, space travel and an increase in travel by older people and mainland Chinese.
Business bargain: KLM is offering Business Class flights to any of its European destinations at the promotional fare of $19,888 (as opposed to about $30,000 normally). Tickets must be issued before February 13, you must leave before March 31, and you're allowed one stopover in Amsterdam. For more details, contact Brian (tel: 2366 7830) at Window Discovery Tours.
