Squash family act Annie Au Wing-chi and Leo Au Chun-ming could hardly have imagined the progress they would make in just a year.
In 12 months, Annie, now a 14-year-old Jockey Club Ti-I College student, went from being the schoolgirls' Grade C champion to Scottish and British Junior Open under-15 champion.
She is now the under-15 No1 in Hong Kong, and her recent defeat of local under-19 top rank Chiu Ka-kei made her No2 in that age group.
Her younger brother Leo, 13, who studies at the same school, ended 2002 by winning the Scottish Junior Open under-13 championship and early last year became the local schoolboys' Grade C champion.
He was soon crowned Hong Kong under-15 No1, and last month he was under-15 runner-up at the 2003 Scottish Junior Open. Three weeks ago he placed fourth in the same age group at the highly regarded British Junior Open.
It won't be long before more trophies arrive as both are hot favourites to win another inter-school title at the Cornwall Street Park Squash Centre this weekend.
Success has come because of their dedication to training and an extraordinary ability to concentrate and learn, said one of their coaches. The Au family lives close to the Sports Institute in Sha Tin, so Annie and Leo frequently train there.
