THE front-page criticism (South China Morning Post, September 7) of an alleged unprofessional performance by security officers at the Ninth International Jewellery Show, was a bit misdirected, considering they carried weapons and bullet-proof vests. If they looked over every prospective buyer's shoulder, it would discourage sales. A really professional thief will outwit even an armed guard. In fact, it is surprising that more was not stolen in what was the greatest show on earth in the jewellery industry. RUDOLF VOLL Kowloon
