Wacky, weird and wonderful. Aerial dancing? Stilt-walking? Giant puppets? Look out Hong Kong! We're all invited to head down to the Hong Kong Cultural Centre next month for Piazza Party - guaranteed to be one of the most oversized, in-your-face and visually stunning outdoor events staged in recent times.

The 32nd Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) kicks off tomorrow, with a special opening ceremony and an extravaganza of free open-air performances on the harbour-front promenade at the Cultural Centre.

Three distinguished performance companies from Australia - Snuff Puppets, Strange Fruit and Stalker Theatre Company - will stage performances featuring aerial dancing, stilt-walking and giant puppets.

Combined with live bands, a percussion ensemble and live music, Piazza Party will take over the Cultural Centre Piazza for four evenings beginning tomorrow from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Be prepared though. Snuff Puppets are seriously huge! The Boom Town Family is a giant family - Mum, Dad, Grandpa and the two kids who are out and about searching for the same kind of fun as everybody else.

Towering over the crowds at four metres tall, they are immediately recognisable and not easily missed. Don't be afraid to shake their giant hands.

Joining them will be a life-size herd of cows on the rampage, grazing on pot plants, eating people's hats and nuzzling children. The Dancing Cows perform a 20-minute outdoor piece, which includes a spoof on line dancing and circus acts. Using dance steps, the cows act out their owner's gruesome demands. Even when the cows are finally slaughtered, their guts emerge to dance.
