EVERGREEN Marine Corp (Taiwan) and Lloyd Triestino Di Navigazione are to jointly launch a service linking the main ports of Asia, the Indian sub-continent, the Red Sea and Mediterranean.
The new service named Medway - a slot-charter scheduling agreement - is to be started either later this year or early next year.
It will start up with seven ships providing a sailing every 10 days and be strengthened in the future with additional ships to provide improved service frequency and quality.
Evergreen will contribute five vessels from its 20-strong 2,728 TEU (20 ft equivalent unit) G-class fleet while Lloyd Triestino will provide two 2,987 TEU newbuildings - the Nuova Genova and Nuova Trieste - for the service.
The service is being introduced in response to growing demand for services to the areas.
The port rotation for the service will be Tokyo, Osaka, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Singapore, Colombo, Jeddah, Limassol, La Spezia, Barcelona, Valencia, Trieste, Jeddah, Colombo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung and Tokyo.
