Accord on trade transport network
The government has reached an agreement with Tradelink Electronic Commerce to manage and operate the digital trade transport network and expects the contract to be signed by summer. Sandra Lee Suk-yee, the permanent secretary for economic development and labour, said the contract for the network was with government lawyers, who were 'examining the language'. She said she hoped to announce the signing at Logistics Hong Kong, the government's international logistics conference from May 18 to 20.
cathay sets record despite bird flu
Cathay Pacific Airways moved a record number of passengers last month, carrying 1.12 million people across its global network, up a comparative 4 per cent. The carrier, which filled 79.2 per cent of its available seats during the month, said it 'as yet had felt no real impact from concerns about avian flu'. The airline carried just over 69,700 tonnes of freight last month, up 2.2 per cent year on year.

An early Lunar New Year helped China Southern Airlines increase the number of passengers it carried on the mainland last month by 26 per cent year on year to 2.3 million. The volume of cargo it carried shrank almost 19 per cent to 36,800 tonnes.
