HKU media scholarships

The University of Hong Kong's Journalism and Media Studies Centre is offering scholarships worth $100,000 for its master's programme for one or two young journalists with at least three years' experience to cover tuition, living and travel. Trio wins research prize

Dr Steve Guo, associate professor of journalism at Baptist University and his co-researchers, Cheong Weng-hin and Chen Huailin, from the University of Macau's Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, have been awarded the 2003 Elizabeth Nelson Prize at the 56th Annual Conference of the World Association of Public Opinion Research for their paper 'Nationalism as Public Imagination: Media's Routine Contribution to the Symbolic Meaning of National Identity in China.'

250 attend workshop

More than 250 primary students and teachers attended the storytelling demonstration of the 'I Love Reading' workshop last Saturday. The workshop was organised by Baptist University's Department of Education Studies and Disney Publishing Worldwide (Asia-Pacific) to generate interest and encourage English reading.
