A return to masterful tailoring. Scrap sloppy sportswear for sharp suits, gorgeous coats and a smart dinner jacket (Louis Vuitton's, right, are built for success); lots of colour, from rich autumnal tones (Miu Miu, Calvin Klein) to brash brights (Paul Smith's kaleidoscope); fur outerwear and trimming; a romantic revival (think Edwardian ruffs at Comme des Garcons, capes at Dries van Noten, and velvet everywhere else); hound's tooth and herringbone patterns; parkas, blousons and biker jackets; ubiquitous sunglasses and scarves (as seen at Prada, below right). Finally, don't forget the bling-bling: chunky rings, necklaces, chains and bracelets were dripping off models at Gucci, Helmut Lang and Hermes. Always the wiseguy, Martin Margiela opted for trompe-l'oeil jewellery on T-shirts and silver duct tape across the eyes (below). Ouch!
