Product: Polaroid Cool-iCam AQ2100 Price: S$399 [HK$1,850] Pros: Convenient, attractively priced for dive and sports enthusiasts Cons: Low-resolution, pictures probably would not turn out to be great unless in very clear waters
Polaroid has long been associated with convenience photography but has lost much of its appeal as digital cameras rapidly become the standard.
Today's digitals enable you to review pictures immediately, and many sell with portable photo printers that enable you to print out the pictures in two minutes.
Now Polaroid is going digital with a range of new products. The only one worth mentioning, however, is the Cool-iCam AQ2100, a compact digital camera in waterproof casing aimed at leisure scuba divers.
The Cool-iCam AQ 2100 has a resolution of 2.1-megapixels and operates in depths of up to 30 metres, which is the maximum depth for most PADI-certified divers and more than enough for the average snorkler.
It has 16 megabytes of on-board memory and an SD card slot. A point-and-shoot camera with automatic flash function, it has only a 2x optical zoom and a 1.5-inch LCD colour display to review shots. It also takes 30-second digital videos. You upload pictures and video to your PC using an included USB cable or with the SD card.
