HKJC Football Betting will launch two new bet types, 'HiLo' and 'Handicap', on Friday and Saturday.
It also will extend all-up betting and increase football betting limits.
Henry Chan Shing-kai, executive director of betting at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, said the changes were aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the regulated football betting service and were part of the fight against illegal bookies.
In HiLo betting, gamblers will bet on whether the total number of goals scored in a designated match is higher or lower than a pre-set 'goal-line'.
The goal-line, normally will be set at 2.5 goals, in which case, bets on 'Hi' will win if a match ends with a total of three goals or more. Bets on 'Lo' will win when two goals or less are scored. The 'goal-line' may vary from match to match but will not be changed once a match is declared.
In Handicap betting, the weaker team in a nominated match will be given a handicap advantage counted in half-goal units (for example, Team A gives Team B a half-goal advantage), which is called a single handicap line.
