The Between Boyfriends Book
by Cindy Chupack
Orion $90
Carrie Bradshaw gets the good sex on screen, but Cindy Chupack, New York writer and executive producer of Sex and the City, is the one with the life experience that goes into the character. Chupack's first book is a collection of essays on dating and being single. She draws on her adventures while 'between boyfriends'. It covers subjects such as 'sexual sorbet' (the first man you sleep with after a breakup), 'male harems' (an idea whose time has come) and 'eggsistential crisis' (a panic attack, common among women in their late 30s). With most chapters running no longer than three pages, she keeps her message short and funny, combining devil-may-care attitudes about anonymous sex with an unshakeable belief in good old-fashioned romance. It's basically the same in style and tone as Sex and the City.
