With Start Something, Lostprophets have made a concerted effort to move beyond the 'Welsh Linkin Park' tag but by throwing into the mix all sorts of tricks - many of which have been tried and tested ad nauseam - the six-piece has produced a hit-and-miss affair. As with mud slung at a wall, some sticks, some doesn't.

This approach works best when singer Ian Watkins puts on his Mike Patton hat. On tracks To Hell We Ride and A Million Miles, not only does Watkins sound like the Faith No More singer but his band also adopt a FNM-type dynamic - to good effect.

Nine-minute closer Sway goes one step further, bringing an almost trip-hop undercurrent to the party.
