Extramarital affairs are flourishing in Hong Kong and Shenzhen - and it's not only the husbands who are fooling around.
Wives are increasingly getting in on the action, according to doctors and private detectives.
Cheating husbands are still more common, but more wives in Shenzhen are beginning to have affairs, according to Shenzhen Family Planning Services Centre director Tao Lin.
Dr Tao said he had seen evidence that more women were beginning to engage in extramarital sex, although the number still appeared to be small.
More than 40 per cent of 600 Shenzhen women he interviewed said they had had more than one sexual partner, he said.
Demand for marital counselling at his centre had surged in recent years, he said. Ten years ago it had needed only one or two doctors to answer calls, while now it needed 10.
'In the last 12 months, the number of people seeking advice jumped by 30 per cent,' Dr Tao said.
