Samsung's popular X-series has been updated with a 15.4-inch wide-screen version called the Samsung X30.

The new model's key selling point is the huge, display 16:10 LCD wide screen with a maximum resolution of 1,680x1,050 pixels.

The Samsung X30 features the Nvidia GeForce FX Go 5200 graphics chip with 64 megabytes of memory that supports 4 x AGP, providing users with top-notch multimedia capabilities. The Samsung X30 also supports any external VGA display device with resolution up to 1,920x1,200 pixels.

The Centrino-based X30 features an Intel Pentium M processor of 1.5-1.7 gigahertz. It is powered by a high-speed 333MHz DDR memory which boosts performance levels.

The X30 also comes with a DVD/CD-RW combo drive and has a FireWire or iEEE1394 port and media card slots that take Memory Stick and Secure Digital or MultiMedia Cards.

It comes installed with Windows XP Professional edition.

As with all Samsung laptops, the ultracompact X series is highly portable. At 26.2mm thick and weighing 2.6kg, it is one of the lightest all-in-one laptops around. In terms of wireless connectivity, the X30 has a lot going for it. It supports Bluetooth and comes with a dual-band antenna that supports Wi-fi as well.
