A week after the Yuen Long crocodile resurfaced following a winter break, Australian hunter John Lever says he is ready to resume his battle to capture the slippery creature. Mr Lever is looking after hatchlings at his croc farm in Queensland, but ever since he admitted defeat in November, he has been contemplating revenge.

Now he's ready for the rematch.

'I've worked out how to catch it,' he said. 'Because of all the light I just couldn't get close enough to harpoon him by hand - you've got to get him from a distance.

'I've been practising with a crossbow, and that seems to do the trick. I did try a spear gun, but it just didn't have the accuracy we need.'

Mr Lever said all that was left was for him to design a specially weighted bolt so the harpoon head would lodge under the creature's skin, allowing him to haul it in.

'Of course, I need to receive an invitation from Hong Kong before I can come back to have another crack at it,' he said.
