Rowan Varty was in unstoppable form as he helped steer King George V School (KGV) to victory in the 2004 Bill Williams Schoolboy Rugby Sevens on Sunday at So Kun Po.
The 17-year-old back scored an impressive 13 tries in six matches, including two in the final, to ensure KGV retained the cup. KGV beat Island School 21-5 in the title match.
'We didn't win the 15-a-side inter-school tournament this year, so we were really up for this one,' said Rowan, who recently returned from New Zealand, where he took part in a four-day training session with the senior Hong Kong sevens squad.
Rowan is a contender to represent the SAR at the showpiece event at Hong Kong stadium later this month.
The squad will be announced on March 19.
Andrew Chambers, a KGV old boy and member of the Hong Kong team, conducted a couple of training sessions with the KGV team last week.
