I refer to the article headlined 'Democracy should decide Taiwan's future: Emily Lau' (February 26).
Legislator Emily Lau Wai-hing said: 'As I said in the 1980s, Hong Kong's future should be decided by its people. Be it Tibet or Xinjiang, if there were such wishes, we should find out why. It should be decided in a democratic way, not by military suppression.'
If I am not mistaken, the Xinjiang separatist movement, like al-Qaeda, is classified and registered by the United Nations as a terrorist organisation. As such it is against the law in America and in China to support either organisation.
I think, by her statement, there should now be no ambiguity about where Ms Lau stands. However, I would like to ask: does the Frontier share Ms Lau's view? And what action is the Frontier going to take?
