voltage dip interrupts soccer match
A sudden dip in voltage interrupted a Hong Kong League football match and trapped a number of people in lifts last night. The floodlights in the Mongkok Stadium, where Sun Hei and Fukien were playing, dimmed shortly before 9.30pm. Play was held up for several minutes while stadium workers switched to a backup power supply. The Fire Services Department recorded 12 incidents of people trapped in lifts. A spokeswoman for CLP Power said a sub-station in Castle Peak recorded a voltage dip at 9.29pm.
King Fook To Review security after break-in
The King Fook Jewellery Company is to review security measures at its 15 shops after a burglar broke into its Central shop without activating the door alarm. The intruder, 37, was arrested after he ransacked the ground-floor store in the King Fook Building, in Des Voeux Road, Central. Police were alerted when he set off an infra-red alarm.
Angler attacked and robbed of mobile phone
An angler was hit over the head with a brick and robbed of a mobile phone near the waterfront in North Point. The man, 63, sought help from City Garden estate's management office and a guard called police. He was treated for head injuries at Ruttonjee hospital. Police say the robber is about 17 and 1.65 metres tall.
