Phil Tucker, headmaster of St David's Roman Catholic Technology College, Middlesbrough, closes in on a technology exchange at Shak Chung Shan Memorial Catholic Primary School, Tsuen Wan. He was one of 11 UK principals who visited the school to look over its IT programme.
The school joined the pilot Electronic Schoolbags scheme in 2002 and now has a campus-wide wireless network with 42 notebooks. Last year it set up a computer-based TV live broadcast programme, the Stone Channel.
The visit was part of the International Placement Programme organised by the British Council. The programme aims to afford UK heads the opportunity to examine areas of excellence in school leadership in different countries.
During their nine-day visit, the principals also spent three days shadowing the work of four local principals in groups. The schools included Diocesan Boys', Fukien Secondary, St Paul's Convent and the Queen Elizabeth schools.
