A MAN carrying a plastic bag stuffed with $500,000 was robbed by two men while walking in Tsim Sha Tsui, the District Court heard.
Pang Wai-keung, 21, a factory worker, was convicted of robbery after a trial before Judge Kilgour and jailed for 41/2 years yesterday.
The court heard that a knife was used during the robbery on the morning of November 9 last year but not by the defendant.
The victim, Hui Kwong-wai, had collected money from an audio company and two of its branches in Tsim Sha Tsui to take to the bank. He was walking through a rear lane when the defendant and another man snatched his plastic bag.
Mr Hui chased the pair and managed to catch hold of the defendant with the help of a passerby. All of the money was retrieved, but the second man was not caught.
