Product: Hewlett-Packard Pavillion T- and A-series Price: $11,990 and $7,998 upwards Pros: Packed with the latest hardware features Cons: Thin on software
The latest home PCs are more media entertainment centres than productivity tools. HP last week rolled out two new ones packed with enough power and features to meet any multimedia maven's needs.
The HP Pavilion T-series has one gigabyte of DDR memory, a new 2.6-gigahertz to 2.8GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor featuring hyper-threading technology, and an 800 megahertz front side bus. Great for 3-D gaming, video editing and encoding.
The HP Pavilion A-series is the better designed, better looking PC, dressed in a black and silver chassis, and starts at 2.4GHz. Aimed at power PC users, the A-series features high processing power and large storage space of 120GB and upwards.
Those who do a lot of digital imaging, video storage and editing might find the A-series useful.
Designed to work with digital media, both systems ship with DVD+RW drives and come with nine-in-one memory card readers that can accept every major flash memory format card.
