He directs, writes the dialogue, produces the soundtrack, and is involved in colouring, lighting and graphics. Meet our versatile French animation director, Jacques-Remy Girerd.
He co-founded the famous Folimage animation studio in Valence, France, in 1984.
Having won some 200 international prizes, Folimage has gained a reputation for quality films. One of its most successful productions, Charlie's Christmas (1998), was directed by Girerd and won, among others, the Cartoon D'Or, or best European animation film.
Charlie's Christmas' success gave Girerd the confidence to take on a feature - Raining Cats and Frogs - which took more than six years to produce.
Girerd hopes the film will make children happy. 'It's something I think about all the time - how to touch people,' he says.
