Menu pays homage to Leslie's memory

A restaurant in Causeway Bay is offering a menu to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of superstar Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing.

Fusion, one of Cheung's regular haunts, was the restaurant he visited before heading to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on the day he died.

Cheung jumped to his death from the hotel's 24th floor last April 1 after a long battle with depression.

The menu will be available from today until April 8. It includes Cheung's favourites, such as caesar salad, tomato seafood soup, spaghetti bolognaise and prime rib.

'Fans can keep the menu as a souvenir ... it has a picture of Leslie and some words written in memory of him,' said a restaurant spokeswoman.

About 100 fans are expected to take part in a memorial dinner at the restaurant on Thursday at 7pm. The dinner and admission costs $250.

After the meal, some of the fans are expected to join a candle-lit memorial ceremony outside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

The memorial is scheduled to begin at 6.41pm, the exact time that Cheung's body was found.

On Saturday night, fans from the mainland, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan will join local fans for another commemorative evening at Fusion.

Kim Jeong-min, chairwoman of South Korean fan club Leslie Forever, said one of the Korean fans would stage an exhibition that night.

'We have been fans of Leslie since the late 80s and early 90s,' said 29-year-old Ms Kim.

'He is a Korean girls' favourite, and the person [who made] Hong Kong the city we want to visit the most.

'His departure symbolises the loss of our youthful memories.'
