The most common mistakes made by Hong Kong drivers are related to signalling. The main one is turning with no signal. Next up is signalling without turning.

Third is signalling half-way around the turn. Fourth, and amazingly the least obnoxious, is never signalling for anything. Actually, this is easier for other motorists, once they understand the driver's characteristics.

Parking mistakes are most noticeable in areas where there are no meters and people double-park to run into a shop for a few minutes. Police in Sai Kung have commented: 'It's not the double-parking that worries us so much as the triple-parking'.

We now note that some motorists avoid getting caught behind double-parkers - by double-parking themselves, leaving a space empty between their car and the curb.

Less common but more spectacular are the speeding 'mistakes', by nearly everyone, including riders of delivery scooters. It is scary seeing a tiny scooter going 100km/h, knowing that it could not possibly stop in an emergency.

Less common are those who go too slow. There are still drivers who brake for every curve of the highway. Sometimes they actually brake going uphill.
