new talks called on east rail extension plan
A second round of consultation will be conducted on public transport services relating to the KCRC's East Rail extension between Ma On Shan and Tsim Sha Tsui. The Transport Department will carry out the consultation either this month or next. The announcement was made yesterday after Ma On Shan residents complained about a proposal to cut 13 bus routes when the new extension opens at the end of this year. The department said because it was believed that more passengers would choose to travel on the new rail, the levels of bus service needed to be re-evaluated.
labour department youth jobs fair to open
A Labour Department youth jobs fair with more than 1,700 positions available will open tomorrow in Wan Chai. Forty-four companies in retail, catering, telecommunications, property and business services will take part in the fair at Queen Elizabeth Stadium. Salaries on offer will range between $8,000 and $10,000 per month.
Four arrested over alleged yau ma tei rape
Four men aged between 21 and 27 were yesterday arrested in a Kwun Tong flat over an alleged rape in Yau Ma Tei last month. Police said they went to the flat at 5am where all four were sleeping. A woman, 29, is the alleged victim of the March 21 attack. No charges have yet been made. Officers from Divisional Investigation Team of Yau Ma Tei are investigating the case.
