Product: BenQ DC C50 Price: $3,380 Pros: A good price for a five-megapixel camera Cons: Frustratingly slow
Top-of-the-range five-megapixel cameras are rarely priced under $5,000, so the $3,380 DC C50 from BenQ looks like remarkably good value.
However, while you may save a couple of thousand dollars by buying it, that saving comes at a price.
The power button is tiny and hard to operate, the battery life is disappointing and the 1.5-inch LCD is not good enough to accurately judge the quality of a picture.
The unbranded zoom lens offers 3x optical zoom (which is complemented by a 4x digital zoom), but only an aperture of 7.2mm x 21.6mm.
The biggest problem with the camera, however, is its speed. From taking a shot to seeing a picture appear takes around three seconds. It then takes another three seconds of frustration waiting to take another picture.
