Police are looking for the parents of a young girl who was found wandering outside a shopping centre in Tuen Mun on Tuesday night.
The Putonghua-speaking toddler, aged about two, told investigators her name was Ling Ling. She is the second child found abandoned in two days.
Castle Peak assistant divisional commander (operations) Chief Inspector Cheng Chun-kit said: 'She looks cute and smart. Our officers can communicate with her in Putonghua. However, she is unable to tell us who are her parents and where she comes from.'
The girl is in good health. 'Her clothes are tidy and this suggests that she had been taken care of by someone before being dumped,' Mr Cheng said. Police found her wandering outside Tuen Mun Town Plaza at about 10pm. The girl is about one metre tall and has pigtails. She was wearing a pink T-shirt with a cow pattern, jeans and white runners. Anyone with information about her should call police on 2404 3513.
On Sunday, a baby girl was found in a Tin Shui Wai waste bin.
The headless body of a baby was found floating off Lau Fau Shan in the northwest New Territories last night by a fisherman. Initial investigations found that the body had been in the water for a considerable length of time. The baby's sex was not known. Police from Tin Shui Wai are handling the case.
