Ada Choi Siu-fun fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a Miss Hong Kong when she placed second runner-up in the Miss Hong Kong Pageant 1991.
The title provided her with a gateway to show business. She went on to star in popular television series such as Healing Hands and Armed Reaction and has numerous awards under her belt, but her success did not come easy.
Born on September 17, 1973, she grew up without her father, who left the family after her parents' divorce.
Because of her mother's addiction to gambling, her family had to move more than 10 times over 10 years to escape creditors.
In 2000, her mother's growing debts led her to publicly disown her mother, a desperate move to get people to stop lending money to her mother.
