Eleven people arrested by the Independent Commission Against Corruption over the illegal removal of boulders from the Tung Chung River were released on bail yesterday.
The suspects, who were arrested on Wednesday, are understood to include Tung Chung Rural Committee chairman Law Kam-fai and secretary Mok Kwong-ming, who allegedly accepted advantages to facilitate the illegal excavation of the boulders for an artificial lake near the future Disneyland on Lantau.
A further seven people from the rural committee, including the vice-chairman, Li Kwai-mo, were arrested for alleged conspiracy.
The remaining two are understood to be contractors Wong Yat-wah and his son, who operate an engineering company.
The two contractors allegedly provided the lake project subcontractor with the boulders.
