The godfather of Canto-pop, Sam Hui Koon-kit, is making a comeback by throwing 10 concerts from June 1 to 16. Reports have surfaced that Gigi Leung Wing-kei, Miriam Yeung Chin-wah, Bruce Lee's daughter, Shannon Lee, and Vivian Chow Wai-man will be among the guest performers.

It has been 12 years since Hui 'retired' from the music industry. Earlier this year, he wrote a song, '04 Blesses You, to commemorate incidents such as the Sars outbreak and the deaths of stars such as Anita Mui Yim-fong in 2003. Hui revolutionised Hong Kong's music scene, which was dominated by English and Mandarin lyrics, by creating songs with Cantonese lyrics. His songs touched the hearts of many by poking fun at ordinary life and documenting social struggles.Kristine Kwok
