The godfather of Canto-pop, Sam Hui Koon-kit, is making a comeback by throwing 10 concerts from June 1 to 16. Reports have surfaced that Gigi Leung Wing-kei, Miriam Yeung Chin-wah, Bruce Lee's daughter, Shannon Lee, and Vivian Chow Wai-man will be among the guest performers.
It has been 12 years since Hui 'retired' from the music industry. Earlier this year, he wrote a song, '04 Blesses You, to commemorate incidents such as the Sars outbreak and the deaths of stars such as Anita Mui Yim-fong in 2003. Hui revolutionised Hong Kong's music scene, which was dominated by English and Mandarin lyrics, by creating songs with Cantonese lyrics.
