SanDisk, the world's largest supplier of flash memory data storage cards, will soon release in Hong Kong what it claims is a virtually indestructible, portable Universal Serial Bus (USB) flash storage drive.

The new Cruzer Titanium is a high-speed, USB 2.0 flash drive designed to withstand harsh working environments, thanks to a construction design similar to that found in aircraft and medical instruments.

It is housed in a stylish yet rugged titanium metal casing that has been shown to survive a force of up to 900kg, claims SanDisk. Many other USB flash drives are made out of plastic, which can break rather easily in abnormal usage conditions.

Available next month, the Cruzer Titanium is also touted as one of the fastest USB portable flash drives on the market, with a write speed rating of 13 megabytes per second and a read speed of 15MB per second.

It comes in a 512MB version, with higher capacities expected in future releases.
