THE PEAK
The Peak Tower is packed with some pretty powerful attractions. Visitors with adventure on their minds naturally gravitate to the Peak Explorer Motion Simulator, a virtual spaceship ride with 180-degree revolving seats, high-definition video projection, surround sound and special light effects. And when through with that thrill, they head for Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Odditorium, a showcase of the extraordinary and downright bizarre that houses more than 450 artefacts collected from all corners of the world. Families itching to take photos can have their portraits taken with the famous (even if these are only wax replicas) at Madame Tussaud's Hong Kong. Outside the museum, children can make a wax model of their hands to take home as a souvenir.
A walk around The Peak offers an unforgettable 360-degree view of Hong Kong. It is also a great place for an introductory geography lesson on Hong Kong Island, Victoria Harbour and what lies beyond.
No one is too old to enjoy the excitement of a ride aboard the Peak Tram (especially that thrilling moment of sharpest incline, at 27 degrees). The funicular railway has been running since 1888. Originally operated by coal-fired steam boilers, the tram became electrically powered in 1926. Today's tramcars can carry 120 passengers. The tram makes more than 90 trips a day, each ride lasting seven minutes. The tram operates daily from 7am to midnight.
