They say some people are born to do the work they do. So it seems with one of our telecoms reporters. Her March 1 birthday corresponds with the market debut of one of the companies she covers - tom.com, which listed on that day four years ago.
Not spooky enough for you? The reporter in question gave birth to her second child on March 11 of this year - the same day that tom.com spin-off Tom Online floated shares. Alas, she has tentatively named her son not Tom (the finest of names in Lai See's humblest of estimations) but James.
TRUST US ... PLEASE?
Say it isn't so. Golin/Harris International's recently released Trust in Asian Business survey shows that one of the least trusted industries in Asia is, well, us. The media scored a -35 on the PR firm's Asia Trust Index, better only than the health & beauty industry (-36) and property developers (-48).
Industries at the top of the index were power (+54), computer (+51) and telecoms (+47).
