The programme, sponsored by Microsoft Hong Kong, provides basic but practical courses at two Caritas Community-based Learning Centres in Tsuen Wan and Tuen Mun until March next year.

The target is to train 1,500 young voluntary IT instructors, who will in return present courses to another 2,500 underprivileged members of the society, including unemployed youth, women, the elderly, new immigrants and people with mental illnesses.

Form Seven student Ansah Malik, one of the young volunteers at Caritas, is happy to help her Pakistani countrymen.

'Most of the ladies in my class had not used a computer before,' said Ms Malik, born and raised in Hong Kong.
